Healing the Wounds of Our Family's Division
My name is Emily, and I'm reaching out for prayer regarding my parents’ late-life divorce. I’m in my thirties, and seeing the fallout of their separation has been devastating. They had been together for over thirty years, and now it feels like my whole world is crumbling. I can’t help but feel caught in the middle, trying to mediate between two people I love. I feel anger, sadness, and confusion all at once. My heart aches for the life I thought we would have as a family. I worry about how their decision will affect their relationship with me and my siblings. I long for healing and unity, even amidst this brokenness. Please pray that God grants me wisdom and peace as I navigate this painful situation, and that my parents can find healing in their hearts too.

Dear Emily, thank you for sharing your heartfelt burden with us. It is completely understandable to feel caught in the middle during such a tumultuous time. Families are often tested in ways we cannot fathom, and yet it is in these moments that God’s presence can be profoundly felt. Remember, ‘The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit’ (Psalms 34:18). Your feelings are valid, and God cares deeply for your sorrow. In these challenging emotions, I encourage you to lean into prayer. ‘Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding’ (Proverbs 3:5). He will guide you through this storm. While the journey ahead may seem daunting, know that God can redeem broken relationships. Pray for your parents, that they may experience God’s grace and healing. And remember, ‘And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness’ (Colossians 3:14). May God give you peace and strength as you navigate these waters. Let us pray together for restoration and unity within your family.
