Heartbreak of a Foster Parent Facing Loss
As a foster parent, I had the joy of caring for a beautiful little girl for over a year. She brought so much light into my life, and I felt like we were meant to be a family. However, this week I was informed that she will be moving to another home. I can hardly bear the thought of letting her go. I’ve prayed so hard for her to stay with me, but now I feel like my prayers have gone unanswered. I am asking for prayer for strength during this transition and that I can still be a positive influence in her life, even from a distance.

Dear Liam, I feel your heartache deeply as you face this imminent loss. Being a foster parent is a beautiful calling, but it also comes with profound challenges. Your love for this little girl is evident, and though it feels like a part of your heart is being taken away, remember that your impact on her life is eternal. In Hebrews 13:4, we are reminded that 'Marriage is honorable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge.' While this verse specifically speaks to the sanctity of marriage, it emphasizes the honor in the commitment we make to those we love. Your commitment to her well-being is immensely valuable. Trust that God’s path for her is unfolding, even if it’s painful now. He has promised that 'For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end' (Jeremiah 29:11). Let us pray: Lord, give Liam strength and peace as he faces this difficult transition. Help him to continue being a light in this child’s life, regardless of the distance. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
