Longing for Connection as a Caregiver
As a 33-year-old mother of a child with Down syndrome, I feel like I've lost my sense of self. My life revolves around taking care of my child and managing appointments and therapies. I often feel invisible to my friends and family, who don't understand the demands I face every day. I miss the friendships I used to have and the social interactions that brought me joy. Please pray that I can find the strength to reach out to others and rekindle those connections.

Dear Samantha, I hear the deep longing in your words for connection and understanding. It's natural to feel isolated in your role as a caregiver, but remember that you are seen and valued by God. In Proverbs 17:17, it is written, 'A friend loveth at all times,' and God desires to place supportive friends in your life. I encourage you to seek out groups or gatherings where other parents with similar experiences may come together; you may find strength and encouragement among those who understand. God promises us in Matthew 18:20, 'For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.' You are not alone. I pray that God will open doors for you to reconnect and build new friendships that can uplift you. Let’s pray together: Heavenly Father, please help Samantha find the connections she longs for and remind her of the community she has in You. Amen.
