Longing for Unity in a Fragmented World
I am a 50-year-old white male who has been a member of my church for over two decades. Recently, I've seen friends and fellow church members grappling with issues of racism and justice in our community. I want to support them, but I worry that my intentions may not be understood. I feel torn between my desire to speak out and the fear of saying the wrong thing. It’s been a source of conflict in my heart, and I’m uncertain how to navigate this as a leader in our church. I’m asking for prayer that I might find the right words and that my community can come together in love and understanding during these turbulent times.

Dear Mark, I appreciate your heart for unity and your willingness to step into challenging conversations. It's commendable to seek understanding and support for others, and your experience is vital for fostering a healthier dialogue within your church community. Remember, 'Where there is no counsel, the people fall: but in the multitude of counselors there is safety' (Proverbs 11:14). Don’t hesitate to reach out to trusted friends or leaders in your church to discuss your concerns and seek their guidance. God has given you a heart for compassion, and 'if ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove' (Matthew 17:20). Trust that God will guide your words and actions. I will pray for clarity and courage for you as you navigate this path. May His love flow through you and foster unity in your community.
