Navigating a Call to Service and Family
As a military spouse, I often feel torn between my desire to support my husband and my responsibilities at home. When he deploys, I am left managing everything alone, and it often feels overwhelming. I fear that I’m not doing enough for him, or for our children, and I wonder if it's too much to handle. I sometimes feel guilty for feeling this way because I know he is facing much greater challenges. I’m asking for prayer for peace in my heart and wisdom to balance my family’s needs while also being supportive of my husband. I want to be strong for my family, but I also need strength myself.

Dear Jessica, I appreciate your heartfelt request, and I want to acknowledge the immense strength it takes to be a military spouse. Your willingness to support your husband and manage your family responsibilities is commendable. In Proverbs 31:10, we read about the virtuous woman who is strong and capable; you embody those qualities. Remember, it’s okay to seek help and to express your feelings. You are not alone in this journey, and expressing your needs does not make you any less supportive. In 1 Peter 4:8, we are called to love one another deeply, which includes loving ourselves and acknowledging our own struggles. I encourage you to connect with other military spouses who understand what you’re going through; there is strength in community. Trust in God’s promise in Philippians 4:19, that 'God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory.' I will be praying for you to find that peace and strength you seek, knowing that God walks with you every step of the way.
