Navigating Anxiety After Losing Retirement Funds
I’m Michael, and I’m reaching out due to the anxiety and fear that have overwhelmed me since I lost my retirement savings in a scam. After working diligently for decades, I now find myself questioning whether I will be able to support myself in the future. The emotional toll has been significant—I feel anxious, fearful, and often hopeless. I’m trying to find balance and faith amid these challenges, but it’s incredibly hard. I ask for prayer to help ease my anxiety and bring clarity to my path. I want to trust in God’s plan, but right now, it feels so distant.
Pastor's Response
Pastor Sarah Mitchell
Senior Pastor, Bethel Church
Dear Michael, thank you for sharing your heart with us. It’s completely natural to feel anxious in such a trying situation. Remember that you are not alone; God is with you every step of the way. In 1 Timothy 6:6, we are reminded that godliness with contentment is great gain. Although it may not feel like it now, there is a deeper lesson in this hardship. As you seek God earnestly, He will guide your heart and mind, granting you peace (Philippians 4:7). I encourage you to lean into prayer and worship during this time, as these habits can help to calm your spirit. God has plans for your welfare, not for evil, and He desires to give you a hope and a future (Jeremiah 29:11). Keep trusting Him, and allow Him to lead you through this storm.
