Navigating Anxiety as Job Security Fades
Hello Pastor David, I’m reaching out with a heavy heart. For the past year, I’ve been working at a company where the outlook seems increasingly grim. Layoffs have been frequent, and I feel like I’m walking on eggshells every day. As a single mother of two, the stress is overwhelming, and I’m terrified of what might happen if I lose my job. My kids depend on me, and I often find myself up at night, worrying about our future and how I would support them. I know God is supposed to give us peace, but sometimes it feels so hard to hold onto that truth. Please pray for me to find clarity and strength during this time, and for my heart to trust in God’s provision.

Dear Jessica, thank you for being so open about your struggles. It’s perfectly natural to feel anxious when faced with job uncertainty, especially as the sole provider for your children. I want to assure you that God is with you in this challenging time. In Matthew 6:33, we are reminded to seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you. Trusting in God’s provision is not merely an act of faith, but it is also a path to peace. Philippians 4:7 reminds us that the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds. You are not alone in this, and it’s crucial to surround yourself with supportive community. Let us bring you before the Lord in prayer, asking for His peace to envelop you and for guidance in your job situation. You can rest in the knowledge that He cares for you and your family deeply.
