Navigating Life After a 20-Year Marriage Ends

I never thought I would be here, feeling the weight of a relationship that lasted two decades come to a sudden close. My wife and I shared so many dreams and memories, and now, those dreams feel shattered. I am struggling to find my identity without her and I feel almost as if I’m mourning a death. Every corner of our home reminds me of what we had, and I’m lost in this sea of grief. I know I need to move forward, but the hurt feels so overwhelming. Please pray that I can find peace and healing during this difficult time. I am asking for strength to let go and to start anew, trusting that God has a plan for my life ahead.

Dear David, I want you to know that your grief is valid, and it's okay to feel this way after such a significant loss. The Bible reminds us in Psalms 147:3, "He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds." Your heart is surely wounded right now, and it is important to allow God to comfort you. Remember also that in the midst of our mourning, Jesus says in Matthew 5:4, "Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted." God is near to you, even in this painful season. It may feel dark now, but Romans 8:28 assures us that "all things work together for good to them that love God." While it may be hard to see the good in this moment, I encourage you to lean on your faith and trust that God has a purpose for your life moving forward. I pray that you find moments of peace amidst this grief and that the love of Christ surrounds you, bringing you comfort and hope. May you experience a deeper relationship with God in this journey.
