Navigating the Difficulties of Passing Down Our Farm
Hi, I’m Thomas, and I am struggling with the thought of passing down our family farm to my children. This farm holds so much history, but times have changed, and the burden of running it grows heavier each year. My heart aches as I watch my children show less interest in farming, and I fear that our legacy will fade away. I pray for guidance on how to open up conversations with them about preserving our family’s heritage. I want them to appreciate the farm as I do, but I am unsure how to encourage their passion for it. I ask for prayers that God will soften their hearts and lead them to see the value in our legacy.

Missions Pastor, First Baptist Church
Dear Thomas, thank you for your openness about your concerns for your family farm and the legacy you wish to pass on. It can be challenging when the next generation doesn’t share the same passion or connection to what we hold dear. Proverbs 22:29 tells us that 'seest thou a man diligent in his business? He shall stand before kings.' This suggests the value of hard work and dedication, which is something you can model for your children. In addition to that, consider sharing stories of your experiences and memories connected to the farm; these narratives can spark interest and appreciation. Trust in the Lord’s plan for your family, for He has a purpose for each of us (Jeremiah 29:11). I encourage you to pray fervently about this situation, asking for His guidance and patience as you navigate these conversations. I will be praying for you, trusting that God will lead your children’s hearts back to the land you love. Amen.
