Overcoming Anxiety in New Social Situations
Hi, my name is Priya, and I'm a 29-year-old woman who often feels intense anxiety in new social scenarios. Whenever I'm invited to events or gatherings with new people, I feel an overwhelming sense of separation anxiety, as if I’m unworthy of being included or loved. Despite my efforts to push through this fear, I often find myself backing out at the last minute. It affects my friendships and connections, leaving me feeling isolated and alone. I want to learn to trust in God’s plan for me and feel secure in my identity. Please pray that I may find the courage to step into these situations, knowing that God goes with me and that I am loved just as I am.

Dear Priya, thank you so much for your honesty. The feelings you're experiencing are quite common, especially during new social interactions. It’s important to remember that your worth is not found in the approval of others but in the love of God. In Lamentations 3:22, we are reminded that 'it is of the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed.' His love for you is unfailing. When you face new situations, turn to Matthew 6:34, which encourages us to 'take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself.' Focus on the present moment, and trust that God is with you. I encourage you to pray before entering these situations, asking for strength and courage to face your fears. I will pray for you, that you may feel His love and presence, giving you the confidence to engage with others.
