Overcoming Fear for My Teen's Future
As a father of a teenager, the fear of what the future holds for my child has been overwhelming. I worry about the influences they face, the choices they will make, and the dangers of the world. Sometimes, at night, I find myself unable to sleep, consumed by the thought of them getting hurt or making poor decisions. I wish I could shield them from everything harmful. I am praying for wisdom and peace, both for them and for myself. I need support in letting go of this anxiety rooted in fear. Please pray that I can trust in God’s plan for my child and find comfort in Romans 8:15, knowing that God has given us a spirit of adoption, allowing us to call Him 'Abba, Father.'
Pastor's Response
Pastor Michael Thompson
Senior Pastor, Bethel Church
Dear Michael, thank you for reaching out with your concerns for your teenager. It's a challenging time for both you and your child, and your love for them is evident in your prayer. As we navigate fear about our children’s futures, we must remind ourselves of God’s promise and watchful care. Romans 8:15 beautifully conveys that we are children of God, and as such, He cares for us intimately. Also, Matthew 6:34 encourages us not to worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will take care of itself. This doesn’t mean ignoring the real concerns; rather, it invites us to trust God with our future and our children’s future. Let’s pray: Heavenly Father, I pray for Michael and his teenager. Grant them both peace and assurance in Your providence. Amen.
