Overcoming Fear of Public Speaking in My Career
Dear Pastor Sarah, I am reaching out to you with a heavy heart. As a young professional who recently transitioned to a managerial role, I am constantly anxious about giving presentations. The thought of speaking in front of my colleagues terrifies me, and it feels like a weight I can't shake off. I know that communication is key in my job, and yet, every time I’m called to present, my mind goes blank, and I freeze. I often lie awake at night worrying about how I will be perceived and whether I will fail. I desire to be confident and to communicate effectively, but the fear grips me tight. Please pray for me as I navigate this challenge, that I may find peace and courage to express myself without fear.

Dear Julia, thank you for sharing your heart with me. It takes great courage to admit our fears, and I want you to know that you are not alone in this struggle. Remember that God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). As you prepare for your presentations, lean into the promise found in Isaiah 41:10, where God reassures us, 'Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.' In moments of anxiety, turn your gaze towards Him. Pray for His guidance and calmness and trust that He is with you, even in the most daunting of situations. Philippians 4:6-7 encourages us to be anxious for nothing but to present our requests to God. I will pray specifically for your confidence and clarity in communicating. May you feel the peace of God that surpasses all understanding guard your heart and mind in Christ Jesus. You’ve got this, Julia!
