Overcoming Shame in My Biblical Journey
Heavenly Father, I come before You feeling ashamed and overwhelmed by my inability to keep up with my Bible reading plan. I see others around me who seem to thrive spiritually, and I feel like I am falling short. It’s been months since I’ve cracked open my Bible consistently, and the shame weighs heavily on me. I want to grow closer to You, yet each day I feel more discouraged. I long to know Your Word and apply it to my life, but I allow distractions and my busy schedule to take over. Lord, I ask for the courage to recommit myself to Your Word without feeling judged or ashamed. Help me find a community or a study group that can uplift me and hold me accountable. I trust in Your mercy and love to guide me back to where I need to be.

Dear Daniel, thank you for your honesty in sharing your struggles. It takes a lot of courage to admit when we feel shame about our spiritual habits. First and foremost, I want to remind you of God’s unwavering love for you, which is not dependent on your performance. In 2 Corinthians 5:7, we are told to walk by faith, not by sight. Even when we feel we are not measuring up, God sees our hearts. You are not alone in this; many believers face similar challenges. Perhaps it would help to set aside a few minutes each day to read a Psalm or a few verses that resonate with you, allowing yourself grace in the process. Hebrews 11:1 teaches us that “faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” Your journey may not look like someone else's, but God is working in you every step of the way. I recommend finding a small group or a partner to share this journey with. Let’s pray: Lord, I lift Daniel up to You. May he feel Your unconditional love and find the strength to return to Your Word without fear of shame. Amen.
