Overwhelmed by Fear of Messing Up at Work
My name is Emily, and I’m a 27-year-old project manager. I am dealing with a lot of anxiety due to a new project that I’m leading at work. I constantly worry about making mistakes or failing to meet my team’s expectations. The fear feels so crippling; I often find myself second-guessing my decisions and avoiding engaging fully in my role. I want to lead with confidence and trust that God has equipped me for this position, but the fear of public humiliation often paralyzes me. I’m asking for prayers that I can overcome my self-doubt and step into the leadership role God has called me to without fear of failure.

Dear Emily, thank you for sharing your heart and your concerns about your new role. It’s natural to feel a sense of apprehension when taking on new responsibilities, especially in leadership. Remember that God has not given you a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). You are more than capable because God is with you, guiding your steps. Trust in His promise that He will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory (Philippians 4:19). When doubts arise, remind yourself of the wonderful truth in Psalm 55:22, which says to cast your burden on the Lord, and He will sustain you. I encourage you to spend time in prayer, asking God to fill you with His peace and wisdom as you lead your team. I will be praying for you, that you find assurance in God’s promises, and that you lead with courage and confidence. You are not alone in this journey.
