Rebuilding My Life and Marriage After Leaving a Cult

I’m Alex, a 40-year-old husband feeling lost after leaving a cult that has taken a toll on my marriage. My wife is still connected to the group, and I struggle to understand how to support her while also trying to foster a healthy environment for our family. The teachings we were exposed to have created a rift between us, and I fear for our future together. I yearn for a marriage grounded in true faith, not fear. I am humbly asking for prayer to heal the wounds in my marriage and to help us rebuild a loving foundation that honors God. My hope is to bring my wife back into a loving relationship with Christ and with me.

Dear Alex, thank you for your openness about such a delicate situation. It is evident that your heart desires healing for both yourself and your marriage. The journey you are on is not easy, but God is with you every step of the way. In Genesis 2:24, we are reminded that a man shall leave his parents and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh—this is God’s design for marriage. You have the opportunity to love your wife with an unwavering commitment, as stated in Ephesians 5:25, where husbands are called to love their wives as Christ loves the church. Pray earnestly for her heart to be softened to the truth of God’s love. Trust that God can restore and rebuild what has been broken, as He promises in Psalm 147:3, "He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds." As you engage in prayer and discussions with your wife, may God grant you both strength and wisdom. Let us pray for the restoration of love and unity in your marriage.
