Rediscovering Love as Our Home Grows Quiet
After years of raising our children, my wife and I find ourselves in a home that feels strangely empty. Our kids, now grown and living their own lives, have left us in this silence that echoes through every room. I remember when laughter filled our living spaces and now, it feels as if we’ve lost our purpose. My wife and I have been married for over twenty-five years, but now that the kids are gone, we struggle to connect in ways that matter. We sit across from each other at dinner, making small talk, but the depth of companionship seems lost. I am asking for prayers as we seek to rekindle our love and find joy in each other's company again. I want to learn how to express my love anew and discover how to nurture this marriage in this new season of life.

Dear Michael, thank you for sharing your heart with me. It’s a profound transition when children leave home, and it’s understandable to feel a sense of loss and emptiness in your marriage. Remember that the foundation of marriage is meant to evolve as life changes. Genesis 2:24 reminds us that a husband shall leave his father and mother and cleave unto his wife; this means continuously choosing to grow together. In this new chapter, I encourage you and your wife to engage in activities you both enjoy, rediscovering shared interests that may have been put aside. Remember, love is patient, and love is kind (1 Corinthians 13:4). It may take time, but your commitment to one another is a beautiful testament to God's design for marriage. Seek moments of vulnerability and honesty with each other, and above all, pray together, inviting the Holy Spirit to renew your hearts.
