Restoring Trust After Painful Church Experiences
Hi, I'm David. I'm a 35-year-old father of two, and I've been struggling to trust the church community after experiencing some deep wounds. I poured my heart into volunteering, only to feel sidelined and judged by others. It feels like I don’t belong anymore, and I don’t know how to move past this hurt. I want to trust again and find a place where I feel safe to express my faith, but every time I think about going back, I feel a rush of anxiety. I need prayer to help me heal from these feelings of rejection and to re-establish my faith in God and His body.

Dear David, thank you for sharing your heart. It’s truly painful when the church, meant to be a place of refuge, becomes a source of hurt. I want to remind you that God sees your struggles and understands your pain. Proverbs 3:5 encourages us to 'Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.' While it’s challenging to trust again, lean on the understanding that God’s love and acceptance are constant, no matter what happens in human relationships. Your desire to reconnect with God and community is a step towards healing. Remember that God desires to mend the brokenhearted (Psalm 147:3). He is always inviting you back to Him. Pray for strength to take small steps towards renewing your trust. Let’s pray together for your healing journey and that God grants you peace as you navigate these feelings.
