Seeking Comfort Amidst Grief and Isolation

Since the pandemic began, I've lost several friends and family members, which has left an aching void in my heart. The loneliness and grief have caused me to question God’s goodness. Why would a loving God allow such suffering? I feel like I can’t connect with anyone, and it's challenging to find joy in anything. I wish to understand how to navigate my grief while still holding onto my faith. I seek prayer for comfort in this time of deep sorrow and for strength to continue trusting in God’s love and mercy, despite my pain.

Dear Sophia, my heart aches for you during this time of profound loss. Grief can feel insurmountable, especially when compounded by isolation. It’s crucial to allow yourself to feel and process your emotions, and to remember that the Lord is close to the brokenhearted (Psalm 34:18). Your questions about God’s goodness are valid, and He welcomes these questions with open arms. In Matthew 11:28, Jesus invites us: 'Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.' Lean into Him during this difficult time. I encourage you to find ways to connect with others, even virtually, and to seek community support as you grieve. You do not have to walk this journey alone. I will be praying for you, that you will find comfort and healing, and that God’s presence will envelop you in your sorrow. Amen.
