Seeking Guidance as a Grandparent of a Trans Child
As a grandmother, I feel a heavy weight on my heart as my grandchild, who is 15, is questioning their gender identity. I want to provide them with love and support, but I’m also struggling to understand what they are going through. My own beliefs clash with this new reality, and I pray for help in reconciling my faith with my desire to be there for my grandchild. Please pray that God gives me clarity to approach this situation with love rather than fear and confusion.

Dear Ella, thank you for sharing your feelings so honestly. It’s commendable that you wish to support your grandchild, even when you face internal struggles. It’s vital to remember that love is at the heart of our faith. 1 Peter 4:8 reminds us, 'And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins.' Your willingness to love your grandchild through this journey is a beautiful reflection of God’s grace. It's okay to have questions, and seeking understanding is a part of your own growth, too. As you navigate this, lean on God for wisdom—James 1:5 tells us that if we ask, He will give it to us. Moreover, remember that God created each person uniquely, as it is written in Psalm 139:14, 'I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.' Your compassionate presence can be a guiding light for your grandchild. I will keep you in my prayers as you seek to balance your love with your beliefs.
