Seeking Healing for My Spouse and Our Family
My name is David, and I am a 45-year-old father of two. My wife has recently developed an addiction to illegal substances, and it’s shattered our family. The atmosphere in our home is toxic, and our children are suffering the most. I'm at my wit's end, feeling helpless and afraid for our future. I want to help her, but I don’t know where to start. I feel so lost. Please pray for her healing and for the strength to support my family through this dark time. I need clarity on how to approach her with love while also safeguarding our children.
Pastor's Response
Pastor Angela Foster
Senior Pastor, Grace Community Church
Dear David, I understand the immense burden you are carrying. Addiction affects not only the individual but the entire family, and your love for your wife and children is evident. Psalm 128:3 states that a fruitful vine is within the house and that is what God desires for your family. It is crucial to establish boundaries to protect your children while still fostering an environment of love and support for your spouse. Remember, your role as a husband is to love her as Christ loved the church (Ephesians 5:25). Seek counselors who specialize in addiction to provide you with the tools necessary for this journey. I will be praying for your wife’s healing and for God’s wisdom to guide you. Trust in the Lord's plan for restoration in your family.
