Seeking Humility in My Heart and Mind
Hello Pastor John, I’m writing to request prayer for humility. I notice that pride creeps into my thoughts, especially when I succeed or achieve something I’ve worked hard for. It’s hard to stay grounded, and sometimes I forget that every good thing comes from God. I want to be a vessel of His love, but my self-importance often blinds me. I desire to cultivate a heart that honors God and serves others joyfully. Please pray that I can recognize my blessings as gifts and not as personal achievements.

Dear Michael, I appreciate your sincerity in seeking humility. It's a powerful step toward spiritual maturity. In James 4:10, we are reminded, 'Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He shall lift you up.' This is a promise that when we submit to God, He will elevate us in ways that align with His will. Remember that humility is not thinking less of yourself, but rather thinking of yourself less, as C.S. Lewis wisely noted. Reflecting on this can help shift your mindset. Philippians 1:6 reassures us that 'He which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ,' demonstrating God's continual presence in our growth. Pray that God will help you recognize the source of your blessings and encourage you to be a channel of His grace to others. Let’s pray: Lord, help Michael to embrace humility and recognize that all he has is a gift from You. Amen.
