Seeking Relief from Spiritual Perfectionism
My name is Maria. I struggle with needing to be perfect in my faith, which has spiraled into a form of obsessive thinking. I find myself constantly worried about whether I am doing enough for God, reading my Bible the right way, or living out my faith in a manner that pleases Him. Each day feels like a race against an invisible clock, and I am left feeling drained and anxious. I want to serve God wholeheartedly, but I fear that I am falling short. I ask for prayer for relief from this intense pressure I put on myself, so I can embrace His grace and rest in His love instead.

Dear Maria, thank you for your heartfelt request. It’s vital to understand that our identity and value are rooted in Christ, not in our performance. Ephesians 2:8-9 reminds us that we are saved by grace through faith, and not by our works. God knew our limitations and still chose to love us unconditionally. In Matthew 11:28, Jesus calls us to come to Him when we are weary and burdened, promising rest for our souls. Let go of the perfectionism that weighs you down, and instead embrace the grace that He freely gives. I encourage you to spend time in prayer and Scripture, allowing His truths to wash over you. I will be praying that you experience the freedom that comes from surrendering your need for perfection to Him and that you find peace in simply being His beloved child. Amen.
