Seeking Support Amidst Family Division
Hello, I am Jacob, and I'm struggling with the aftermath of our family's heavy involvement in a controlling religious group. My parents are deeply embedded in this community, and my siblings and I feel trapped. I want to support my parents, but I can no longer follow their strict interpretations. It causes friction, and I worry about the rifts this will create. I pray for reconciliation and for God to soften their hearts to accept that I have my own spiritual journey. I ask for prayer that my family can find a way to love one another despite our differences.

Dear Jacob, your heart for your family is evident, and I commend you for recognizing the struggle while also wanting to honor your own spiritual journey. Family dynamics can be incredibly challenging, especially when spiritual matters are involved. In Colossians 3:13, we are instructed to bear with one another and forgive one another, which is paramount in your situation. Forgiveness does not mean compromising your beliefs, but rather allowing love to lead the way. As you navigate these conversations, remember the promise in Joel 2:25, where God says He will restore the years that the locusts have eaten. He can restore the relationships that feel damaged or distant. Pray earnestly for their hearts and for God’s wisdom in your words. I will pray for the grace and strength you need, and that your family may embrace a path of understanding and love amidst your differences.
