Starting Over After Career Setbacks
I’m Alex, a 45-year-old father of two who recently lost my job due to company downsizing. It’s been a difficult transition as I also have a degree from another country, but it means nothing here. I feel like I've hit rock bottom, having to start over in a new field that I never expected to be in. Please pray that I can find a job where I can provide for my family and regain my confidence. The fear of failure looms large, but I’m also open to what God has in store for me. I want to find peace in this uncertainty and trust that He has a plan.

Dear Alex, your situation resonates deeply with many who face unexpected career changes. It's commendable that even in this uncertainty, you are open to God's leading. Remember, as Ecclesiastes 9:11 reminds us, 'The race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong,' which shows that success doesn't always come from our efforts alone. God often works in ways we cannot foresee. Your experience and skills are valuable, even if not yet recognized in this country. I encourage you to lean into this time of transition; it's an opportunity for growth. Trust in God's timing as 1 Timothy 6:6 reminds us that godliness with contentment is great gain. I will pray that God provides you with peace during this time and guides you toward fulfilling employment that aligns with your abilities.
