Strengthening My Soul Amid Breathing Challenges
Hello, I’m Richard, a 57-year-old retired veteran diagnosed with COPD. I’ve dedicated my life to serving others, but now I’m struggling with a condition that makes simple tasks feel monumental. I’ve experienced feelings of inadequacy; I often wonder if I can still be a contributor to my family and community. The isolation is hard, and I find it challenging to ask for help. I’m seeking prayer for physical healing, but also for courage to accept my limitations and to find new ways to serve and connect with others. I want to remain active in my faith and community despite these challenges.

Dear Richard, thank you for your service and for sharing your heart. It’s admirable that you’ve dedicated your life to helping others, and now you find yourself in a position of needing support. Please know that it’s okay to accept help; you are not alone in this journey. God values your heart and intentions, and He has a purpose for you in every season of life. As stated in 2 Corinthians 5:17, 'Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.' This means that even as you face physical challenges, God can open new doors for you to serve in different, perhaps even more meaningful, ways. Turning to Philippians 4:13, remember, 'I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.' May you find strength in His presence and know that your worth is not measured by your physical abilities but by your identity as a child of God. Let's pray for healing and for opportunities to serve that align with your current situation. God will guide you to fulfill His purpose.
