Struggling to Accept My New Normal
I’m Thomas, a 51-year-old veteran who lost my leg during my service. Coming home has been incredibly challenging. I find myself grieving not just the loss of my limb but also the life I had envisioned for myself. I no longer feel the same sense of purpose, and I struggle with feeling like a burden to my family. My identity as a soldier and provider has shifted, and I feel lost in how to navigate my role now. Please pray that I can find renewed purpose and strength in my faith, as well as peace for my family as we adjust together.

Dear Thomas, thank you for sharing your heart and your journey with us. Your service and sacrifice for our country are greatly appreciated, and it’s understandable to feel lost after such a profound change in your life. I want to remind you that your identity is rooted in Christ, not your physical abilities. In John 11:25, Jesus says, 'I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live.' This means there is continued life and purpose for you ahead. As you navigate this new normal, lean on God's promises and trust that He can transform your pain into a source of strength and hope for you and your family. Let’s pray for renewed purpose in your life and for peace in your heart as you journey forward together. God bless you, Thomas. Amen.
