Struggling to Understand My Daughter's Rejection
I feel so lost and confused about my daughter, Sarah. She grew up loving church and participating in youth group, but in the past year, she has rejected her faith. She says religion is just a way to control people and that she wants to think for herself. This has created a huge rift in our relationship, and I often find myself crying out to God for guidance. I worry that she is filling her life with negativity and influences that will pull her further away from God's truth. I want to understand her feelings and support her, but I also want her to know the love of Christ. Please pray for Sarah to find clarity and for our hearts to be open to healing and communication.
Pastor's Response
Pastor Sarah Mitchell
Senior Pastor, Grace Community Church
Dear Michael, thank you for reaching out with such a heartfelt request regarding Sarah. It’s natural to feel a sense of loss when a loved one distances themselves from faith. Remember that God is deeply invested in her spiritual journey. In John 14:6, Jesus assures us, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.' This truth stands firm, even when circumstances appear bleak. As you navigate your relationship with Sarah, approach her with love and understanding. Ephesians 2:8 reassures us that 'for by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God.' Grace is a powerful tool, and your love can be a conduit for her to experience it. Pray for wisdom as you communicate, and ask the Holy Spirit to guide your conversations. Together, let us pray that Sarah finds her way back to the heart of God. Lord, we ask you to touch Sarah and show her your truth and love. Amen.
