Struggling with Fear of the Afterlife
My name is Michael, and I’m a 29-year-old man who is grappling with an intense fear of death and what might come after. Lately, it seems that every time I hear about someone passing away, I am reminded of my own mortality, and it fills me with dread. I find myself questioning my faith and wondering if I am truly prepared for what lies beyond this life. The fear consumes me at times, making it hard to enjoy my everyday life. I desperately want to find peace and assurance in my faith, and I seek prayer to help me overcome this fear of the afterlife and to deepen my relationship with God.

Dear Michael, thank you for reaching out with such a sincere and vulnerable request. It’s completely normal to have fears about death and the afterlife, but let’s cling to the hope we have in Christ. John 14:27 reminds us that Jesus gives us peace, not as the world gives, but as He gives. When we put our trust in Him, we can face our fears with courage, knowing that Romans 8:15 assures us we are children of God and have no need to fear. As you navigate these feelings, I encourage you to meditate on the promise of eternal life found in John 3:16, which states that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life. God loves you deeply and desires to walk with you through this journey. Let’s pray: Lord, I ask that you lift this fear from Michael and replace it with a profound understanding of your love and the promise of eternal life. Amen.
