Struggling with Grief and Doubt About Heaven
Hello Pastor Linda, I recently lost my mother, and the grief is overwhelming. While I know she had faith, I can't shake the feeling of doubt about her eternal destination. Did she truly believe enough? Was there something more I should have done to help her in her faith? These questions plague my mind, and I fear that I may never know the answers. I desperately want reassurance that she is with God, and I need prayer to help me process this loss and find peace in my heart about her afterlife.

Dear Michael, I am deeply sorry for your loss. Grieving the loss of a loved one is one of life’s hardest challenges. It's understandable that you have questions about your mother’s faith and her place with the Lord. In 2 Corinthians 5:8, we are reassured that "to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord." This is a precious promise for all who trust in Christ. Remember, Jesus knows our hearts. In Romans 10:17, we learn that faith comes by hearing, and it is God who sees the sincerity of our hearts, even in moments of doubt. Trust that your mother’s faith was real; she is now at peace with God. In the midst of your sadness, lean on Him for comfort, as Psalm 34:18 reminds us that "the Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart." Let’s pray: Heavenly Father, I lift Michael up to You in this time of grief. May he find solace in Your promises and comfort in the knowledge of Your love. Amen.
