Struggling with the Fear of Social Interaction
I am a 30-year-old introverted male who has always found social situations challenging, but the pandemic has intensified my anxiety. I dread the thought of attending gatherings or even casual meet-ups with friends. Each time I think about stepping outside my comfort zone, I feel an overwhelming sense of fear and anxiety. I want to build relationships and be more involved in my community, but I can’t shake this fear that holds me back. I ask for prayer for bravery and for God to help me overcome this social anxiety.

Missions Pastor, First Baptist Church
Dear Daniel, it takes great courage to acknowledge your feelings of anxiety, and I commend you for reaching out for help. You’re not alone in this struggle, and God is with you every step of the way. It's important to remember that 'God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind' (2 Timothy 1:7). This promise reminds us that fear is not from God; rather, He empowers us to overcome it. As you take small steps toward social interaction, lean on the promise of Isaiah 41:10, where God says, 'Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God.' Trust that He is holding your hand through these experiences. Start with smaller gatherings and gradually work your way up; each step is progress. May God grant you peace and confidence as you interrelate with others. I will pray for your journey towards connection and assurance. Amen.
