Stumbling Through the Pages of His Word
Hello, my name is Laura, and I find myself struggling to stay consistent in my Bible reading. I know it’s important for my faith, but life gets busy, and I often feel ashamed when I skip days. I feel like I’m letting God down, and I’m afraid of drifting away from Him. There are days when I sit with my Bible open, but I can’t focus; my mind wanders, and I leave feeling defeated. I want to grow spiritually and deepen my relationship with God, but this inconsistency weighs heavily on me. Please pray that I find the discipline and joy in reading scripture, and that the Holy Spirit helps me draw closer to God daily.

Dear Laura, thank you for your heartfelt request. First, let me remind you that feeling ashamed during your spiritual journey is common. Remember, we all stumble and struggle at times (James 1:5). The key is to keep coming back to God. His promise in Jeremiah 29:11 assures us that He has plans to prosper us, even when we feel inadequate. It's okay to have days where focus escapes you; just keep opening that Bible. God meets us in our effort, not in perfection. As you read, pray for understanding and clarity, as He assures us in Proverbs 3:6 that if we acknowledge Him, He will direct our paths. I encourage you to set a small, achievable goal for your reading, perhaps just a verse or two each day, and let the Holy Spirit work through those words. Let’s pray: Heavenly Father, I lift Laura to You, asking for a fresh passion for Your Word. May she find joy and clarity as she seeks You. Amen.
