The Battle Between Love and Addiction
Dear church family, I am coming to you with a heart full of struggle. My partner is battling a pornography addiction, and it has created a wall between us that I fear is too tall to climb. I understand addiction is a powerful force, but it feels like I’ve lost the person I once knew. Every time I reach out for connection, it feels as though I’m met with a barrier of shame and guilt. I love him deeply, yet my patience is wearing thin as I watch this addiction take hold. I am praying for his healing and for God to give me the strength to endure and navigate this pain. Please join me in prayer for restoration and clarity. Thank you.

Dear Amina, thank you for sharing your heavy burden with us. It’s clear that you love your partner, and it’s understandable that you are feeling the effects of his addiction. In Genesis 2:24, the marriage bond signifies a deep connection that is meant to thrive in intimacy and trust. It’s vital to remember that healing is possible, even from addiction. Encourage him to seek help, as recovery is a journey that often requires professional support. Communicate your feelings openly and lovingly—this will help in rebuilding that wall of trust. As you walk together through this challenging time, lean into God’s promise that He is your refuge and strength (Psalms 46:1). Let’s pray for both of you to find hope in the process of healing and for love to conquer the pain of addiction.
