The Desire for Genuine Connection in Worship

I’m Anonymous, a 50-year-old man, and I’ve been a Christian for many years. However, lately, I feel spiritually dry. I want so badly to connect with God during worship, but I find myself feeling disconnected and frustrated. I see others around me fully engaged, and it makes me wonder if I’m doing something wrong. I want to feel God's presence and be filled with His joy, but instead, I feel distant. I am asking for prayer for a breakthrough, that I might experience God in a more profound and personal way as I worship.

Pastor's Response

Pastor Daniel Park

Associate Pastor, Covenant Presbyterian Church

Dear friend, it’s perfectly natural to experience dry seasons in your spiritual journey; every believer faces these moments. Know that our God invites us to seek Him earnestly: 'And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart' (Jeremiah 29:13). Have you considered that sometimes our expectations can hold us back from experiencing genuine worship? Each person's journey is unique, and it’s essential to strip away the comparisons. Remember, ‘A bruised reed shall he not break, and the smoking flax shall he not quench’ (Matthew 12:20). God cares deeply for you, and He sees your desire for a deeper connection. I encourage you to approach worship with an open heart, free from distractions or judgments. Engage in intimate prayer, express your longings to God, and allow Him to meet you there. Let us pray for that breakthrough, that you may encounter His presence anew.
