The Pain of Losing an Adopted Child
I recently went through an adoption process that was almost finalized when we were told that the birth parents had decided to reclaim their rights just days before the finalization. My heart is shattered; I felt like this child was my own, and now I’m left with a void that I can’t seem to fill. I have been crying and praying for peace, but I feel so lost and confused. Please pray for my healing and that I can find comfort in God’s love during this painful time.

Dear Victoria, I grieve with you over the loss you are experiencing. The bond you formed with this child was real and beautiful, and it’s natural to feel an overwhelming sense of grief when a dream is taken away. In Psalm 73:26, it reminds us that 'My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion forever.' Lean into God during this time; He is your refuge and strength, even in this storm. Remember, it’s okay to mourn the loss, just as it’s important to embrace the love that God has for you. 'We know that all things work together for good to them that love God' (Romans 8:28). Allow this time to bring you closer to Him, as He can restore and renew your heart. Let’s pray: Father, grant Victoria peace as she navigates this heart-wrenching disappointment. Surround her with Your love and guide her toward healing. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
