Wrestling with Ageism in Job Search
As I sit here at 58, life feels heavy after being let go from a long-term position. I’ve sent out resumes that seem to vanish into the void, as if my age is a wall I can't scale. The bills keep piling up, and I can’t shake the fear of losing my home. I feel defeated and alone in this struggle. It’s hard not to feel like I’m too old to start fresh. I need prayer to find hope and direction in my job search. I’m asking for clarity and for God to guide me to the right opportunity, one that embraces my experience.

Dear Linda, I can feel the weight of what you’re experiencing. Age can sometimes feel like a barrier, but we must remember that God’s purpose for our lives does not diminish with age; it only deepens. In Matthew 25:21, we learn that when we are faithful in what is least, God entrusts us with more. Your years of experience are invaluable, and they highlight your resilience. Philippians 4:13 states, "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me." This is a promise you can rely on as you move forward in your job search. Also, remember that God provides wisdom generously when we ask (James 1:5). Take time to seek Him in prayer, asking Him to reveal the next steps. You are not alone in this journey; I will be praying for your situation, that God opens new doors for employment and that you experience His peace in the process. Trust in His timing and provision. Amen.
