Wrestling with Caregiver Doubts and Fears
I’m Emily, a 29-year-old caregiver for my young son who has special needs. I love him fiercely, but the exhaustion and anxiety are often overwhelming. I worry constantly about whether I’m doing enough for him, and I often feel like I’m drowning under the weight of responsibility. I fear that I’m failing him in some way, and I wish I could find relief and clarity. This burden feels too heavy at times, and I am reaching out for prayers for strength, courage, and comfort. I need to be reminded that I’m not alone in this.
Pastor's Response
Pastor Robert Kim
Associate Pastor, Covenant Presbyterian Church
Dear Emily, thank you for trusting us with your prayer need. It’s apparent how much love and dedication you have for your son, and I want to encourage you that your feelings are valid. In Psalm 46:1, we are reminded, 'God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.' You are not alone; God is right beside you in your journey, ready to offer you the strength you need. It’s vital to take time for yourself, as self-care is essential for your well-being. In John 14:27, Jesus said, 'Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you.' Seek that peace through prayer and turn your worries over to Him. I’ll be praying for you to find moments of joy in your caregiving and that God’s presence would comfort you during this challenging time.
