Wrestling with Childhood Fears of Abandonment
Hi, I'm Sarah, and I’ve been struggling with deep fears of abandonment ever since I was a child. Growing up, my family went through a lot of upheaval, and I often felt neglected and alone. Despite being in a loving relationship as an adult, those childhood wounds resurface whenever I feel my partner pulling away, even if it's just to focus on work or friends. I spiral into anxiety, thinking I’ll be left alone again. I’ve tried to talk to him about it, but I fear my emotions might drive him away. I’m asking for prayer to find peace in my heart and to build trust in my relationship without these haunting fears. Please pray that God helps me understand my worth in His eyes and gives me strength to overcome this fear.

Dear Sarah, thank you for sharing your heart so openly. It is truly brave to express the fears that have haunted you. Remember, you are not alone in your struggles, for God is with you always. Isaiah 41:10 reminds us, 'Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.' Your past does not define your future. As you navigate these feelings, I encourage you to lean on Philippians 4:6-7, which teaches us not to be anxious about anything but to bring our requests to God. His peace, which transcends all understanding, will guard your heart and mind. Your fears and doubts can be laid at His feet. Take heart in knowing that you are wonderfully made, and God sees you, loves you, and cherishes you. Pray for the Holy Spirit to fill your heart with His peace and affirm your identity in Christ. I will be praying for you, dear sister.
