Wrestling with Fear of Rejection in Friendships
For as long as I can remember, I've struggled with making and maintaining friendships. My fear of being rejected often leads me to withdraw before others can leave me. As a result, I find myself lonely and wishing for deeper connections. I feel like my childhood experiences of feeling unworthy have followed me into adulthood. I want to be open and embrace friendships, but my anxiety keeps holding me back. I am asking for prayer that I can overcome this fear and learn to trust again.

Senior Pastor, Bethel Church
Dear Elena, thank you for sharing your journey with us. The feelings of inadequacy and fear of rejection can be incredibly isolating. It’s important to remember that you are wonderfully made, and God loves you unconditionally (Psalm 139:14). He desires for you to live a full and rich life, not one bound by fear. In Romans 8:15, we are reminded that we have received the Spirit of adoption, which means we are part of God’s family. As you step out and seek meaningful relationships, cling to God’s promise in John 14:27 that He will provide peace in your heart. You are not alone in this—God is with you as you confront these fears. Let’s pray that God gives you strength and courage to open your heart to others, embracing the friendships He has in store for you.
