Wrestling with My Friend's Reluctance to Believe
I have a friend, Marco, who lives in Brazil, and we've shared many late-night conversations about life and faith. He grew up in a religious family but has drifted away from those beliefs. I've tried to share the hope I have in Jesus, but he seems resistant to the idea of faith. I'm worried because he struggles with feelings of worthlessness and despair, especially after losing his job. I feel called to help him see that God loves him unconditionally and that everyone can be saved, as we read in Romans 6:23. I'm asking for prayer that the Holy Spirit softens his heart and opens his eyes to the truth of the Gospel. Please pray for courage and wisdom as I seek to guide him toward a relationship with Christ.

Remember that the journey to salvation is often a process, and we must trust God to work in His timing. Ephesians 2:9 reminds us that salvation is not of works, lest any man should boast; it's a gift from God. This beautiful truth can be a foundation for your discussions with Marco. Also, encourage him with the promise in John 14:6 that Jesus is the way to the Father. Your friend may need to see the love of Christ reflected in you as much as he needs to hear about Him. Continue praying for him, as it says in Romans 10:9 about confessing with our mouth and believing in our heart for salvation. Let’s pray that the Holy Spirit cultivates a desire in Marco to seek the truth. Lord, we lift Marco up to You, asking that You open his heart and mind to Your Gospel. Amen.
