Yearning for Patience in the Face of Trauma
Caring for two foster kids who have seen so much heartache has been a heavy responsibility. Some days, I lose my patience with their outbursts and defiance, and I feel guilty afterward. I understand their reactions come from trauma, yet there are moments when I just don’t know how to respond. I want to emulate Christ's love, but my frustration often gets the better of me. I’m praying for a deeper well of patience and understanding to help me guide them through their emotions. Please pray that I can be a steady presence in their lives, reflecting God’s unwavering love.

Dear Mark, thank you for your heartfelt request. Caring for children who have experienced trauma is indeed a challenging calling, and your desire to reflect Christ's love is commendable. Remember what Paul writes in Ephesians 4:2—be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. It’s okay to feel frustrated; what matters is how you respond to those feelings. God is patient with us and invites us to extend that same grace to others. As you seek patience, consider memorizing Colossians 3:13, which encourages us to bear with each other and forgive one another as the Lord forgave you. Pray daily for strength and the ability to respond with love in those difficult moments. Let us pray for an overflowing well of love and patience to fill your heart and home, allowing you to nurture these children with grace.
