Yearning for Relief from Unending Care Duties
I’m Akira, a 33-year-old caregiver for my mother who is living with Alzheimer’s. The emotional toll is heavy, and I feel like I’m drowning in fear and anxiety over her condition and what the future holds. Sometimes it feels as if I’m trapped in a never-ending cycle of responsibilities, with no time for myself. I find myself questioning if I can keep this up, and I worry about losing my own identity. I long for God’s intervention, to bring peace and respite into my life. Please pray that I can find pathways to healing and restoration, both for my mother and for myself.

Recovery Ministry Director
Dear Akira, thank you for your vulnerable sharing. Caring for a loved one with Alzheimer’s is a profound challenge, and your feelings of fear and anxiety are completely understandable. I want to offer you reassurance through Isaiah 26:3, which promises that God will keep you in perfect peace if you keep your mind stayed on Him. It’s crucial to remember to take care of your own needs as well. God’s word in 1 Peter 5:7 reminds us to cast all our cares upon Him, knowing He deeply cares for us. I encourage you to seek out moments of rest, whether through respite care or community support, so you can recharge. Remember, you are not alone in this. I will be praying for God to grant you peace in your heart and wisdom in your caregiving journey. Amen.
