In which of his epistles does Paul urge the recipient to free the slave Onesimus, who had run away and converted to Christianity?

A1 Thessalonians
BTitus
C1 Timothy
DPhilemon✓ Correct Answer

Answer & Explanation

Philemon

"I beseech thee for my son Onesimus ... that thou shouldest receive him for ever; not now as a servant, but above a servant, a brother beloved, specially to me, but how much more unto thee, both in the flesh and in the Lord?" (Philemon verse 10-16). Paul also offered to repay Philemon any quantity that Onesimus might owe him, in money or in service. In this, Paul acted in accordance with the Hebrew fugitive laws as stated in Deuteronomy 23:15: "Thou shalt not deliver unto his master the servant which is escaped from his master unto thee."
