A New Mother’s Struggle with Insecurities

Becoming a mother has filled my heart with love, but also with overwhelming fear. I constantly worry that I will fail my child, abandoning her emotionally like I felt done to me as a child. The trauma from my past often echoes in my mind, telling me I’m not worthy or capable of being a good mom. I find myself anxious at every turn, second-guessing my decisions and fearing that I won't be able to provide the emotional support my daughter needs. I long to break free from these fears and be the nurturing mother she deserves. Please pray that I can lean on God’s strength and wisdom to guide me through each day.

Dear Laura, thank you for your heartfelt request and for sharing the struggles you face as a new mother. First off, let me assure you that your desire to be a great mom already shows your love and commitment. Remember, in Romans 8:28, we learn that God works all things together for good to those who love Him, including your past. Your fears do not define your future. God’s perfect love casts out fear (1 John 4:18), and He will empower you to seek His wisdom in every decision. Each day is a new opportunity to embrace the journey of motherhood, leaning on His strength. Be encouraged that you may not be perfect, but your love for your child is a beautiful reflection of God’s love for us. I will pray for you as you navigate this precious season, that God will grant you peace and assurance as you grow in this role.
