Embracing Joy After Years of Shadows
For years, I battled a deep depression that felt like an endless tunnel with no light. There were moments when I thought joy would never return to my life. Just recently, however, I felt a spark of joy for the first time. It was as if a veil had been lifted, allowing me to experience laughter, happiness, and gratitude. I find myself smiling more, and the world seems brighter. I am so thankful to God for this gift, yet I worry about the possibility of falling back into despair. I ask for prayers that this joy remains in my heart, and that I grow stronger in my faith so I can embrace this newfound blessing.

Dear Emily, I am overjoyed to hear of the joy you are experiencing after such a long battle with depression. It is truly a testament to God’s faithfulness. As Psalms 136:1 reminds us, “O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good: for his mercy endureth forever.” Your experience of joy is a beautiful reminder of the mercy and grace God has shown you. Rejoicing in the Lord is essential, as we find in Philippians 4:4, "Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice." Continue to celebrate each moment of joy, for it is a gift from God. When doubts arise, remember Romans 8:31, "What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?" I encourage you to seek God daily in prayer and Scripture. Let His joy fill you and sustain you. I will pray for your continued strength and that you remain anchored in His love. May you find peace and joy in this season. Amen.
