Finding Strength After the Storm
As a young father who recently survived a tornado, I find myself living in fear every time the wind picks up. The chaos of that day plays over and over in my mind, and I struggle to find strength for my family. My little daughter often asks me if another storm will come, and I can't bear the thought of her being scared. I pray for courage to face my fears and the strength to reassure her that we are safe. Please pray that I can find peace amidst the anxiety, and that I can protect my family from the shadows of that experience.
Pastor's Response
Pastor Robert Kim
Associate Pastor, Covenant Presbyterian Church
Dear Marcus, thank you for opening up about your struggles. It's natural to feel anxious after such a harrowing experience. You are not alone in this; many face similar fears after disasters. I encourage you to anchor yourself in Psalm 46:1, which says, 'God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.' Remember that God is always with you, and He offers you strength to overcome these fears. As you lead your family, cling to the promise in John 14:27: 'Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.' I pray that you find the assurance you need to comfort your daughter and yourself. Let's pray: Lord, please grant Marcus peace and courage as he navigates these fears. Surround him and his family with Your protection. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
