Holding On During Extended Deployments
My husband is currently deployed overseas, and it's been so hard for both of us. The distance makes everything feel strained, and our communication is often limited to quick texts or video calls that don’t last long. I miss his touch and the way he would laugh at my silly jokes. With each passing day, I feel more lonely, and I worry that the separation is causing us to drift apart, especially when I think about the challenges of parenting our two young children alone. I’ve been relying on my faith, but sometimes it feels heavy to carry this burden by myself. I ask for prayer for strength during this difficult time, for my husband’s safety, and for our marriage to stay connected despite the miles between us.

Dear Emily, I want you to know that your feelings are valid, and you are not alone in this journey. The Bible tells us in Genesis 2:24 that a husband and wife are meant to be one flesh, and God understands that separation can create challenges in that unity. In times like these, it’s essential to lean on each other, even from afar, and to trust the Lord to sustain your love. Remember that communication is not only spoken but felt. Share your heart through letters or small gestures that remind him of your love. As you’re parenting your children, consider how you can involve them in prayer for their dad. Matthew 19:6 reminds us that what God has joined together, let no man put asunder; this means you can withstand this trial together. Find comfort in Romans 12:10, which encourages us to be devoted to one another in brotherly love, as you support each other through this season. May God keep your heart and marriage strong. I will pray that the Lord grants you peace during this deployment and fills your home with love. Amen.
