Holding Onto Faith After the Loss of My Son
As a single father, I raised my son to be a brave and kind man. His recent death in combat has shaken my world to its core. I wrestle with anger and confusion, questioning why this happened to such a good person. I feel lost without him, and my heart aches every moment of each day. I miss our talks, our laughter, and the dreams we shared for his future. I find it hard to pray because my faith feels fragile. I long for a sign that reminds me of God’s love and presence in the midst of my despair. I ask for prayers for strength to cope with this immense loss and for the ability to keep my faith alive.

Dear Michael, I can only imagine the depth of your sorrow as you navigate this heartbreaking loss. It is completely natural to have questions and feel anger during such a time. Remember that God understands our struggles, and He cares deeply for you. The Lord promises us comfort: 'Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted' (Matthew 5:4). He is with you, even in your darkest moments, as He says in Psalm 23:4: 'Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me.' Hold onto the memories of your son and the legacy he left behind. Let's pray together: Lord, I ask for Your comforting presence to be upon Michael. Help him to find strength in You and to feel Your love surrounding him as he grieves. Amen.
