Navigating Anxiety in an Overstimulating World
My name is Anaya, and I am a 19-year-old college freshman. I've always been a bit sensitive to sensory experiences, but lately, it has become almost unbearable. The bustling campus life, loud classrooms, and even the smells from the cafeteria have made me feel anxious and unsettled. I often retreat to my dorm to escape, which has impacted my ability to make friends and enjoy the college experience. I long for the days when I could embrace life without fear. I’m asking for prayer that God will provide me with strength and coping mechanisms to handle these overwhelming situations. I want to feel His peace and presence, especially in moments of anxiety.

Dear Anaya, I want to encourage you during this challenging time. College can be overwhelming for many, and it’s perfectly okay to feel this way, especially with sensory sensitivities. Remember that God cares for you deeply, and He desires for you to flourish in this new chapter of your life. In Romans 8:15, we are reminded that we have received the Spirit of adoption, which allows us to cry out to God as our Father. You are not alone; He is with you every step of the way. As you face these moments of anxiety, take heart in knowing that you can cast your burdens upon Him (Psalm 55:22). He is your refuge and strength, always ready to help. I encourage you to seek out quiet moments in your day to connect with Him through prayer or simply enjoying nature. I will be praying for you to find peace in the midst of chaos and to feel God’s loving presence surrounding you.
