Strengthening Bonds with Traumatized Foster Youth
Dear Lord, I come to You in prayer for the two foster teens that my spouse and I have welcomed into our home. They have been through so much and often seem so distant and guarded. I pray for the strength to break down the walls they've built around their hearts. It’s painful to see them struggle with trust and attachment, and I worry about how we can support them effectively. I ask for wisdom in knowing how to communicate with them and to build meaningful relationships. Help us to connect with them on a deeper level, showing them that they are safe here and that they are loved unconditionally. Lord, fill our home with Your peace, and guide us in this journey of fostering them. Amen.

Dear Liam, thank you for your brave commitment to these foster teens. It’s a challenging journey, but God is with you every step of the way. Remember, in Colossians 3:13, we are called to 'forbear one another, and forgive one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.' This is especially true in the context of trauma where past hurts can prevent healing. Your desire to build trust and connection is so important. In 1 Peter 5:7, we are reminded to 'Cast all your care upon Him; for He careth for you.' Allow God to guide you as you navigate this relationship. I will pray for the bond between your family and these teens to grow stronger. Let us pray: Heavenly Father, give Liam and their spouse the strength and wisdom to love these teens well. May their home be a sanctuary of healing and trust. In Jesus' name, Amen.
