Overcoming Fear in My Fasting Journey
I've been feeling called to fast, but I’m struggling with fear and anxiety about how it will affect my body and mind. I’ve read about the spiritual benefits, but I can’t help but think about the physical discomfort I may face. I often battle negative thoughts that tell me I can't do it or that I will fail. It feels daunting, and I am caught in a cycle of wanting to pursue this discipline while being paralyzed by fear. I’m asking for prayer to help me overcome these fears, to find a way to trust God through this process, and to strengthen my resolve to develop a fasting practice.

Dear Marcus, I commend you for acknowledging your fears and seeking to confront them through prayer. The journey to develop a fasting discipline can indeed come with challenges, but remember that God does not give us a spirit of fear but of power and of love, and of a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). Your willingness to step out in faith is what truly matters. In Hebrews 11:1, we are reminded that faith is the assurance of things hoped for, and as you combine that faith with an action like fasting, you will find strength that transcends your fears. Start small; perhaps try a short fast, just a meal or two, and use that time to spend in prayer and reflection. Each step will build your confidence and trust in God. Let’s pray together: Lord, I ask that you help Marcus overcome his fears and grant him peace and assurance as he embarks on this fasting journey. Amen.
